Thousands of students graduate from secondary school every year and are not able to go to university or college. Their chances of getting a job are slim at best, because they don’t have the skills to enter the workplace. Modern Gulf Institute is now offering a course that will prepare unemployed Omani nationals for work in the administrative field.
As skills development will be focused on job related requirements, and a general course outline is as follows:
- English; General English, Business English
- Information Technology: Keyboarding, Computers and Computing, Word Processing, Powerpoint, Excel, Internet Explorer
- Soft Skills: Customer Service, Telephone Answering Skills, Sales and Marketing, Office Management
The programme will last nine months and be divided into six sessions of five weeks each. At the end of each session students will be required to write examinations based on the work covered. Students who complete each session will be required to pass an English examination at the appropriate level, and will be awarded a locally approved Ministry of Manpower certificate.
